Welcome!
There is something so sublime about exploring landscapes and observing nature. I especially enjoy the effects of sunlight through the clouds, open sky vistas, towering clouds, changing weather, or walking through old growth forests. Finding beauty and joy in the landscape meant I was attracted to things like cycling, hiking, road trips and Painting. Follow the links below for available paintings or continue reading to know more about my ongoing projects.
In reality, the landscape around us is ever changing. For me, painting the landscape is about trying to hold those feelings still. Remembering what that view, that light, that fog, those rocks made me feel. My best translation of this idea can be viewed in my series of paintings, “Landscapes yet discovered”
Who can resist being captivated by towering summer nimbus, morning sunlight reflecting off wispy cumulus, or soft soaring cirrus streaking across a bright blue sky. The dynamic variety of shapes and opaqueness set up a dramatic theatre everyday for our gazing. I love looking at clouds but I paint them to learn about painting. Started in 2015, painting clouds continues on and cloud paintings for sale can be seen here. Painting clouds demands your focus and when its done right, the illusion of a masterfully painted sky is magical. I have a lot of learning to go.
Daily paintings are an ongoing series of quick works on small surfaces that express my day to day interests in painting. A collection of landscapes, cloudscapes, or experiments in painting these works are completed mostly in one session and will be made available for sale at accessible prices.
Commissioned art is a vehicle to connect my collectors with the art making process on a deeper level. We work together to form a shared vision for what a painting could be. The painting is a success when my collector feels so engaged that they themselves had painted it.
Thank you for taking this moment to view my work—now stop and go look at the sky.
